Fur: It's All In The Details

Though Summer is just around the corner, we are already thinking towards Winter. After an exciting and successful buying trip to Milan, we fell in love with the new state of luxe that the next season is obsessed with - fur. Following Christopher Bailey's success on the Burberry catwalk with python leather jackets, we have seen a steady increase with our favourite brands returning to the nostalgic luxury of fur.
Fendi was this Winter's biggest champion, using bold structures and silhouettes to spectacular effect with a mix of croc, shearling, mink and fox. We adored it so when we travelled to Italy to scout the latest trends for Alta Moda customers, it was the only thing on our minds.

Using Lagerfeld's catwalk as our style inspiration, we set up camp at luxury fur brand Vinicio Pajaro. Esteemed for their quality furs and expert tailoring, Vinicio Pajaro has been our favourite in furs for many seasons. We also visited our beloved and Alta Moda customer favourite, Philipp Plein in search of luxury furs and leathers.

We fell in love with their new dynamic take on their popular classic gilets with touches of fur peppered throughout the collection. For the coming season be prepared to enjoy a nostalgic glimpse of luxury gone by with fur and remember, it's all in the details.
Vinicio Pajaro and Philipp Plein are now both available to shop now at our flagship store in Puerto Banus
Label Lust! Pre Fall 2011 Accessories
Every woman needs them, and every woman loves them. Our obsession with shoes and bags is evermore indulged by a continuing strong focus on luxury accessories. The most iconic brands spoil us every season with the "It" bag or the "must have" statement shoes. My favourite thing about treating yourself to a beautifully crafted handbag or a pair of painstakingly made stilettos, is that they are real investment pieces, often standing the test of time to be pulled out of your wardrobe season after season.
Now that some of the Pre Fall Accessories lines are making their way into our reach, I thought I could tempt and tease you with some of my personal favourites. Roll on Summer!

Colour blocking is a massive trend next season and these bags from Moschino and Roberto Cavalli could not get any closer to it! Bright, colourful and eye-catching, these will make lively additions to any wardrobe.

Everyone is talking about the Roberto Cavalli Diva Bag! Tipped to be the bag of next season, it's classic form coupled with a variety of brightly coloured, and in this case, elegant darker tones, ensure that it's versatility will be praised season to season. Python skin was all over the Spring/Summer runways, most notably in Christopher Bailey's collection for Burberry so you can bank on python skin bags and these stunning court stilettos to be a recurring trend.

Keeping with Cavalli, it seems the different lines of the fashion power house are paying attention to their accessory lines. The leather and suede fringing on these clutch bags and shoes is a strong reference to this season's 70's trend, showing that boho chic isn't going anywhere!
My Sale Favourites!
Christmas and New Year have come and gone and all that's left behind is the miserable month of January to contend with. However, if you are a sales maven (like most fashionistas out there) this is your favourite time of the year. In fact, it's Christmas come early, or late depending on how you want to look at it. We have a fantastic sale at the moment with most Fall 2010 lines reduced, so what better time to shop. And to make it even easier, I've picked out my January Sale favourites. Happy Shopping!
Winter Luxe

Don't miss out on this season's hottest trend of luxe styling. Furs paired with knits, cashmere twin-sets and urban cropped jeans. Also, not forgetting the snow bunnies amongst you - keep things stylish on the slopes with this lively checked belted jacket.
Smart Styling

I love these outfits because they demonstrate best my favourite aspect of the Winter season - the opportunity to dress sophisticated and elegant. Shades of black and palettes of cool greys are among my essentials for the chilly months. A classic grey shift dress with a pop of burnt orange or a monochrome painterly print dress layered with a luxury knit. Perfect!
Marc Jacobs Heralds Back To The 20's for Pre Fall 2011
Ever continuing to fuse retro influences into his lines, Marc Jacobs decided he was going in the direction of 1920's Art Deco for his Pre Fall collection at Louis Vuitton.
Featuring lots of pleating, sequin embellishment and a playful variety of different textures, Jacobs has created another trend to watch for the upcoming Winter season. Completing looks with T bar sandals, fur headbands and Lucite bracelets, we are certainly heading back to the times of all that jazz.
Vintage style prints mark elements of sophistication and oldy worldy glamour for next season's Louis Vuitton collection. We think we will definitely be seeing a lot more of this trend filtering through to other brands as the season unfolds. Are you as excited as us?
Designing Dreams With Philipp Plein
Philipp Plein will become the latest designer to join the reality TV buzz. Starting on the 20th January, German broadcaster ProSieben will screen the talent show for fashion designers every Thursday night.
"Fame & Fashion - Design Your Dream" is on the hunt for a chief designer of new label GoldCut. Three finalists will be chosen to create full collections to be showcased in fashion capital, Milan. Expect guest appearances from celebrity personalities Peaches Geldof, Alice Dellal, model Franziska Knuppe as well as Pierre Sarkozy (Nicholas Sarkozy's son and the new face of Plein's menswear range).
Seven candidates will compete for the coveted position as chief designer at GoldCut with their collection being sold online immediately following the final on Otto.de. With Philipp Plein at the helm of the search for new designing talent, we can only expect good things and pure TV viewing gold.

Think Neo Noir With This Season's Luxury Furs
During the past season we've witnessed the return luxury furs. Looks ranging from Siberian princess to ultra glam Hollywood starlet, the style has been such a success, it's no surprise that this is how we've been managing to stay warm this Winter.
The trick, however, is to keep things contemporary and learn how to combine this season's most luxe trend with your other Winter essentials. Layering is key to maintaining a modern style whilst also nodding to the neo noir style of the 1974 Faye Dunaway film, "Chinatown".
Ponchos are a great way into this trend without necessarily going full on. Pair with your favourite cigarette trousers and leather boots for an urbanite touch. Alternatively, short coats are ideal as well as versatile. Whichever style you decide to go for, you can guarantee, you will turn heads this Winter.
M Missoni And A Sneak Peek At The Pre Fall Collection

Time to skip ahead and think of warmer times! But fashion being fashion, we are already hurdling towards next Autumn.
Angela Missoni calls to the era of 60's mod for this season's key inspiration.
Biba style polka dot knits and monochromatic sqaure pattern dresses are the more striking pieces from the pre Fall collection whilst signature Missoni prints can be found in cute knit shorts and polo necks.
Certainly shifting towards a more trend focused and edgy collection, we can expect this capsule pre Fall 2011 line to be a top favourite when it hits our stores next year.

Pierre Sarkozy Becomes The Latest Face Of Philipp Plein
Pierre Sarkozy, none other than the son of French President and model/actress Carla Bruni, is the latest celebrity to become involved in the world of edgy German designer, Philipp Plein. Following the trailblaze set by style icon and Hollywood golden girl, Mischa Barton, Pierre was photographed on location by esteemed fashion photographer Olimpia Soheve.
Pictured on board a yacht, the overall look of the shoot is markedly preppy for Plein and possibly marks another shift in gear towards the contemporary trend that we first saw on the Milan runways for D&G menswear SS11. What is also exciting, is the sharp tailoring that can be seen in the lightweight blazers and trousers. Tailoring was never seemingly at the forefront of Plein's design ethic but has evolved naturally with the young designer's growth.
An interesting fusion of classic Americana and nouveau yacht prep, this is the most pared down and yet, sophisticated collection from the house of Plein.

It has been reported this morning that the latest starlet to join the Dolce & Gabbana house and front their campaign, might be X Factor star Alexandra Burke. British newspaper the Daily Mirror cited that Rihanna is also rumoured to be considered by the fashion power duo, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Although according the the Mirror, Burke "has the edge" over Rihanna. She would not be the first songstress to model for Dolce and Gabbana, Madonna fronted the last campaign in a series of vintage style photo stills. |
Crossing over to fashion, Madonna also launched her own label, Material Girl with teenage daughter Lourdes. Interestingly enough, the X Factor star is launching her own clothing line alongside fellow X Factor contestants, boy band JLS.

Foxy Lady With Roberto Cavalli
Tis' the season to wrap up warm whether you're braving freezing temperatures to get yourself out to all those Christmas parties, running around trying to get the shopping done or jetting to a ski destination.
This season's balance between pared down chic and overwhelming opulence has us in two minds but this Fox fur gilet style coat from Roberto Cavalli's Class line pushes us towards the latter. The silver fox fur is in three layers and features a cream anorak style fabric cut between the tiers of beautiful fur.
Accessorise with a belt, like this stunning cobra belt from Korokum, sexy heels for an uber glam look or your best Winter boots for something that's a little more urban. A statement piece that's perfect for the snow queens amongst us.
